1624: Joanna Hoar, an 8th great-grandmother on my mother’s side, was born in Gloucestershire, England. Joanna was the daughter of Charles Hoar, Jr., and Johanna Henchman. She died 16 May 1680 in Braintree, Massachusetts, and is buried in Hancock Cemetery in Quincy, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. A photograph of her gravestone appears below. 1814: Nancy Caldwell (or perhaps Colwell), one of my maternal 2nd great-grandmothers, was born in Virginia. Her parents have not been identified. She died on 5 February 1887 in Taylor Township, Union County, Ohio, and was buried in Ford Cemetery.
