On his TransylvanianDutch blog, John Newmark defines an amanuensis as “a person employed to write out what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another.” For more information about this daily blogging prompt, see John’s post Amanuensis – Why?.
In this deed, Lory Ford and his wife conveyed just one acre of land to my maternal 2nd great-grandfather David Snider. The land description refers to a corner of David Snider’s land so this one acre was adjacent land. David’s daughter, Delilah, was married to Henry Ford; I’m not sure of what relationship there may be between him and Lory Ford. In the recorder’s certification at the end of the deed, the recorder notes that a duly cancelled revenue stamp was affixed to the deed indicating that appropriate taxes had been paid on the transaction. First time I’ve seen that!
